Basketball Uniforms

Forest Deer Sportswear manufactures custom sublimated basketball uniforms for clubs, schools, leagues, distributors and private-label brands. Choose coordinated jerseys, shorts, reversible sets and warm-up apparel with team colors, names, numbers, sponsor marks and custom labels. Our basketball sublimation service puts the approved artwork into the polyester fabric so the design remains smooth and unrestricted by the number of printed colors. Fabric, fit, order quantity and delivery schedule are confirmed for each project before sampling.

Every basketball order starts with a few practical choices: where the uniform will be worn, how it should fit, which sizes are needed and whether it is for a team, retail range or private label. From there, we can recommend the jersey and shorts construction, fabric and decoration that suit the project.

Fabric, fit and construction decisions

DecisionCommon directionWhat to confirm
Jersey bodyMoisture-managing polyester interlock or performance meshHand feel, opacity, ventilation, snag resistance and target garment weight
ShortsCoordinated polyester with elastic waist and optional drawcordInseam, pocket requirement, waistband construction and side-panel shape
FitRegular, relaxed or closer athletic fitYouth/adult grading, body measurements and approved sample measurements
SeamsConstruction selected for movement and repeated washingStress points, reinforcement, binding and acceptable tolerance

GSM alone does not tell you how a basketball fabric will feel or perform. Two fabrics of the same weight can differ in breathability, stretch, opacity and snag resistance, so the final choice should be based on the actual swatch and sample.

How basketball sublimation works

For a fully sublimated basketball jersey, the artwork is prepared to the approved garment pattern. Color is printed onto transfer paper and applied to suitable polyester material with controlled heat and pressure. The printed panels are then cut and sewn. This method supports gradients, repeated patterns, large sponsor graphics and individual names or numbers without stacking multiple print films on the fabric.

For compatible polyester panels, we sublimate the approved graphics before the garment is assembled. The result is a smooth sublimated basketball uniform with no heavy print layer over the main design. Embroidery, tackle twill or heat-applied details can be added when a raised or textured finish is wanted.

Customization checklist

  • Team or brand colors with Pantone references where available.
  • Front, back and side artwork plus sponsor-logo placement.
  • Player names, numbers and roster spreadsheet.
  • Neckline, armhole, side-panel and short-inseam preferences.
  • Youth and adult size breakdown with fit reference.
  • Main label, care label, hangtag and packaging requirements.

From artwork to repeat order

  1. Brief and quotation. Send style references, quantities, size range, logos, destination and required date.
  2. Artwork and material confirmation. Approve layout, colors, fabric direction and construction details.
  3. Sample approval. Check fit, measurements, print placement, hand feel and workmanship before bulk production.
  4. Bulk production and inspection. Panels are printed, cut, sewn and checked against the approved specification.
  5. Packing and reorder record. Confirm roster packing and retain the approved project details for fill-in orders.

Who we manufacture for

Forest Deer works with team managers, schools, academies, clubs, distributors and apparel brands. Team orders often place the most importance on roster accuracy and delivery date, while private-label orders may also need brand labels, retail packaging and SKU records. Tell us how the uniforms will be sold or distributed so these details can be included in the quotation.

Frequently asked questions

What can be customized on a sublimated basketball uniform?

Team colors, gradients, patterns, player names, numbers, sponsor logos, neck labels, size labels and packaging can be specified. Construction details and non-sublimated embellishments are confirmed separately.

Can you make reversible basketball jerseys?

Yes. Reversible construction is available. The two layers, artwork placement, total weight and neckline or armhole finish should be approved in the sample specification.

Does sublimation printing crack or peel?

The sublimation image is transferred into compatible polyester fibers rather than sitting as a thick film on top. Correct fabric, temperature and process control are still important to the final result.

Can I order a sample before team production?

Sampling is available. The sample charge, artwork requirements and schedule depend on the selected construction and decoration. These details are stated in the quotation.

What is the MOQ for custom basketball uniforms?

MOQ varies by style, construction and decoration. Selected sample or replacement orders may be possible in small quantities, while bulk pricing is quoted at confirmed quantity tiers.

Can you match a team Pantone color?

Pantone references can be used during artwork preparation. A printed color sample or physical reference is recommended when a close brand-color match is critical.

Do you supply youth and adult basketball sizes?

Youth and adult size ranges are available. Use the project size chart and approve fit through samples rather than relying on a chart from another supplier.

Can you make private-label basketball apparel?

Yes. Private-label options can include brand labels, care labels, hangtags and retail packaging. Label content and local compliance requirements must be supplied or approved by the buyer.

Fit, sizing and roster planning

A basketball uniform should be approved as a complete playing set. Jersey length, chest width, armhole shape and neckline affect movement at the top, while short length, rise, leg opening and waistband determine comfort below. A buyer can begin with an existing size chart or send a well-fitting reference garment. Whichever route is used, the final chart should identify the measurement points and tolerances rather than relying only on size labels such as M or XL.

Youth and adult orders need separate attention because simply scaling an adult pattern down may produce the wrong armhole, body length or short proportion. Women’s or closer athletic fits may also require separate grading. During sampling, record the wearer’s body measurements, sample size and fit comments so revisions are based on evidence instead of memory.

Roster control

Names, numbers and sizes are safest when supplied in one spreadsheet with a single row per player. The artwork spelling, capitalization and number format should match that file. Before production, freeze the roster version and identify any blank stock pieces or coach garments separately. Late roster changes can affect artwork output, packing and delivery, so the quotation should state the last date for changes.

Material approval for jerseys and shorts

Basketball materials are commonly compared for ventilation, opacity, stretch, snag resistance and hand feel. Open mesh may improve airflow but can change print detail and transparency. A smoother interlock can reproduce fine graphics well but may feel warmer depending on its construction. Shorts sometimes need greater opacity or structure than jerseys, even when both garments share the same color palette.

Ask for identified swatches, then print critical light and dark colors on the selected fabric. Check white areas over the body, view the material under stretch and compare the result in normal indoor light. GSM is recorded as one part of the specification, together with fiber content, knit construction and supplier reference.

Reversible basketball uniforms

A reversible set is not simply two standard jerseys placed together. The sample needs to confirm total weight, opacity between sides, seam enclosure, neckline and armhole finishing, label placement and the direction of both artworks. Numbers and sponsor marks should remain readable whichever side is worn. If one side is much darker than the other, test whether it affects the appearance of the light side.

Artwork, decoration and sponsor details

Full sublimation can carry gradients, patterns, player names, numbers and sponsors across compatible polyester panels. Small sponsor text should be printed at actual size before approval. If embroidery, patches or another raised finish is added, mark it separately on the artwork because it changes cost, weight and production time. Neck labels, care labels, hangtags and individual bags are also separate components, especially for private-label programs.

Basketball inspection and packing points

  • Compare finished measurements with the approved size chart and tolerance.
  • Check neckline, armhole and side-seam symmetry.
  • Verify every player name, number, size and garment pairing.
  • Review print placement at seams and across jersey and short panels.
  • Check waistband elasticity, drawcord security and any pocket construction.
  • Pack by player, size or team group according to the approved list.

What to send for a basketball quote

Send the jersey and shorts reference, reversible or single-layer requirement, quantity, youth/adult size range, roster, artwork files, logo positions, preferred fit, destination and required arrival date. If the fabric is undecided, describe the playing climate, desired hand feel and opacity so suitable swatches can be proposed.
